Jennifer Motruk Loy, principal
Jennifer is the primary strategist for all clients, directing and managing her team on clear execution and implementation of well-honed tactics to achieve results. With more than two decades of experience in the hospitality, architecture, design, and arts industries, Jennifer understands that there are no ordinary challenges and no standard solutions, and that an integrated marketing and public relations strategy is the smartest way to earn success.
Prior to launching JML marketing + communications in January 2008, Jennifer was the Director of Marketing and Business Development for the award-winning firm D.C. firm CORE architecture + design. During her four years there, CORE grew from 16 to 37 staff, was awarded a number of prominent projects, received more than 50 design awards, and garnered international media exposure and coverage in top design publications. Jennifer went to CORE from the Washington Design Center, where, as the Director of Marketing, she oversaw programs and communications for 75 showrooms, managed relationships with major trade and consumer design publications, and coordinated more than 150 different events.
Early in her career, Jennifer was the Director of Programming and Facilities at the Howard County Center for the Arts, in Ellicott City, Md., where she developed and managed programs and outreach for a 50,000-s.f. facility that housed three art galleries, artists’ studios, classrooms, and a black box theater. Add to the list Executive Director of the Washington Project for the Arts, blackjack dealer, art handler, studio assistant, and volunteer for a number of causes and events, and Jennifer provides JML clients with an unparalleled perspective on how to set a path for success.
Jennifer holds a B.F.A. in Visual and Performing Arts, with a double minor in Management and Art History, from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where she also worked as the assistant to the director of the Fine Arts Gallery. From 2001 to 2010 Jennifer served on the Board of Directors of the Washington Project for the Arts and was Chairwoman from 2004 to 2007, guiding the organization through a separation from the Corcoran Gallery of Art in 2007. Current affiliations include American Marketing Association (AMA), the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (RAMW), the Washington Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA|DC), and the Washington Project for the Arts (WPA). In her spare time, Jennifer is an avid art collector and loves to travel with her husband.
